Project W/W

For the past couple of years I've been working on a World War 2 photo essay kinda project. Scouring ebay for cheap buys of fatigues and gear, buying broken airsoft guns to use as props and trying different lighting and ways of shooting to achieve the look I like. All the while trying to watch documentaries, read books and look at photographs of the time to see what I can fake in photoshop and what I'd need to actually have on hand as far as clothing and gear. My hats off to the reenactors! World War 2 military gear is expensive. Maybe not as expensive as photography gear and computers and software but still....

FIRST!

Well, looks like I've started my blog. Welcome! My name is Sam and I like to draw on pictures. I like to take pictures too. you know, so I can draw on them. I started out as a kid drawing and painting all through school (elementary through college). During high school I started skateboarding and found out I liked taking pictures. Shooting and drawing became the passion and after 2 years at a university heading toward a fine art degree I switched to Art Institute and went for Photography. 1993 was the year when I started at " The Institute" and around '95 I discovered Photoshop. I've been drawing on pictures ever since.
